Fortifications are a type of building in Hyrule: Total War's Freeform Campaign. There are 8 levels of Castle growth, equivalent to the growth of a settlement from Village to Metropolis. The function of Fortifications, for now, is nebulous, likely to provide a defensive bonus. In Hyrule: Total War, the distinction between a Fortification and Settlement is solely for the purpose of the game engine's custom settlement limits.
